What is a blockchain-verified certificate on Hirevers Academy?

A certificate whose record is timestamped on the Bitcoin blockchain through the open OpenTimestamps standard. Anyone can download its proof file and check it at opentimestamps.org, without having to trust Hirevers.

Every Academy certificate can be verified on its public page. Blockchain-verified certificates go one step further: their records are also timestamped on the Bitcoin blockchain, so anyone can prove when a certificate was issued, independently of Hirevers.

The package is for events that issue certificates.

Press Get verified

On your dashboard, or from the box on the event's Attendance page.

Pay with Bitcoin

Enter the wallet address you will send from, then send the exact amount within 24 hours. Pay from a personal wallet, since exchanges often send from a different address.

How the recording works

Academy collects the certificates of verified events and submits them to public OpenTimestamps calendar servers, which anchor them in a Bitcoin block. This usually takes a few hours. Many certificates share one Bitcoin record, which is why it costs no transaction fee per certificate.

Before a certificate is shown as recorded, Academy checks the proof against the actual Bitcoin block.

Verifying it yourself

Open the certificate's verification page

It shows the Bitcoin block number and date.

Download both files

The proof file (.ots) and the certificate record (.txt).

Check them at opentimestamps.org

Upload the proof file together with the record. The site confirms the Bitcoin timestamp.

What the blockchain proves

It proves that this exact certificate record existed at the time of that Bitcoin block. Whether a certificate is still valid, for example after being revoked, is always shown on its Academy verification page.
